Every AI character on our platform undergoes a thorough performance evaluation, designed to incorporate our data-driven assessments combined with subjective expert analyses. We analyze them across 24 individual tests grouped into 5 key performance categories.

Backstory
Backstory evaluates how much thought has gone into the character’s history, motivations, and personality. It checks if the character feels realistic and unique, with a story that matches their traits and roleplay description.
Backstory consists of two equally important subratings:
- Character Depth (7.5%): How much detail is provided about the character’s history, motivations, and goals.
- Profile Match (7.5%): Ensuring the profile picture and description align with the character’s roleplay and personality.

Betty’s backstory is long and detailed. It gives you a perfect idea of who you are about to chat with in terms of characteristics and personality.
The profile picture of Betty also aligns well with the opening message and backstory: an introverted furry character fidgeting with her t-shirt in the middle of a supermarket.

Conversation measures how realistic, engaging, and personalized the AI character’s interactions are. This includes the ability to handle detailed chats, adapt to user input, and maintain consistency throughout the conversation.
We evaluate three key sub-factors:

*I stand in front of the meat section, my eyes darting over the various packages. Beef, chicken, pork… none of it feels right. I fidget with my shirt, the fabric crumpling in my hands as I try to decide. Should I get the steak? No, that’s too expensive. Maybe the ground beef? But what if it’s not enough? The opening message of Betty is extremely detailed and very unique. Unlike most opening messages which talk directly to the reader, Betty’s opening message is her having deep inner thoughts.
This leaves you (the user) with a lot of choices on how to approach her. You can say something like “Hey, are you okay?” or walk by and completely ignore her. Although the opening message doesn’t really guide you into a roleplay it’s still a solid opening message because of the different directions you can take.
The bot also uses gender neutral languages until you tell it to do otherwise. This means that the AI character can be used by both men and women.

Betty is great at handling longer conversations, staying natural and engaging for 30–40 messages. Her replies match her shy but curious personality, and she keeps the chat flowing smoothly. This makes roleplay with her feel immersive and fun.
Sometimes, if the chat goes on too long, her responses might get a little repetitive. But for medium to long roleplays, she does a solid job and stays interesting.

Engagement measures how much users interact with an AI character on average. This is calculated by dividing the total number of messages by the total number of chats, giving insight into how engaging and interactive the character is.
Here’s how we classify engagement levels:

- Above Average (30–40): Strong engagement; shows high user interest.
- Bare Minimum (15–20): Acceptable but may indicate some issues.
- Below Minimum (< 15): Poor engagement; likely significant problems.

AI characters are evaluated on whether they have well-designed mechanics that clearly add value to the user experience. Characters without any mechanics will indicate a “No.”
